Recyling Household Batteries?

If you're like us, we use a lot of batteries, both at home and here at Explore Media's Elkhart video production studio.  Everytime a battery dies, I think about how to dispose of it: do I just throw away? do I recycle? Where do I recycle?  Click here for a good website that explains it all!Unfortunately, it seems there are not many programs to recycle your "dry-cell" batteries (the alkaline AA, AAA, C, D batteries most common), however, if you switch to rechargeable batteries those ARE able to be recycled, and you can just drop them off at a number of retailers.  Here's a partial list:  Alltel, Batteries Plus, Best Buy, Black & Decker, Cingular Wireless, The Home Depot, Milwaukee Electric Tool, Orchard Supply, Porter Cable Service Center, RadioShack, Remington Product Company, Sears, Staples, Target, US Cellular, Verizon Wireless, and Wal-Mart. And in Canada: Battery Plus, Bell Mobility, Canadian Tire, FIDO/Microcell, Future Shop, The Home Depot, Home Hardware, London Drugs, Makita Factory Service Centers, Personal Edge/Centre du Rasoir, RadioShack Canada, Revy, Sasktel, Sears, The Sony Store, Telus Mobility and Zellers.

We're always conscious of the effects of our actions at Explore Media, and we take care to make sure the effect of our video productions are always smart, creative, resonate with your target audience, and of course, are carbon neutral :)  Serving South Bend, Elkhart, Goshen, Warsaw, Fort Wayne, Northern Indiana, Michiana, Kalamazoo, and the greater Chicago video production market, we are a videography, video editing, digital video company.
