Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) offers health insurance and related services to more than 1.5 million customers. They approached Explore with a particular issue: for a statewide commercial campaign, they had already filmed on-camera talent (colleagues and employees) and put together edits. The problem? The spots didn’t resonate, or leave viewers feeling connected with the messaging.
Leo Burnett and Serta Mattresses needed to film creative involving actors reading actual social media posts from kids talking about their parents’ uncomfortable mattresses when they come home for the holidays. Genius! The only problem? There was money for either a scaled back casting session or locations, not both. Oh yes, and due to timing, the project needed to shoot almost 1 year in advance.
1st Source needed a :60 Brand Image ad to use as the hero spot during the recent Olympics, as well as NFL Football and highly-viewed events. What they ended up getting was so. much. more.
SpartanNash has 10 grocery brands and over 147 stores in 9 states. Their flagship full-service grocery brand is Martin's Super Markets. Our creative team came up with 5 concepts for their 75th anniversary. Once Martin's settled on the concept centered around their tagline, "Count On Us", we filmed both projects in 1 day on location at a Martin's Super Market store.
Sapient Razorfish’s creative called for telling the stories of people who live with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Using our experience empathizing with real people, we were able to elicit the honest, emotional stories from the talent that Eli Lilly was looking for to communicate their message of hope.

…Explore has a DICE policy to cover most of our production insurance needs. The key word is “most”. Shooting on a frozen lake in Minnesota in March? A DICE policy will definitely cover the shoot – until anyone in the crew steps across a very specific line: the lake’s shore.
To achieve these transitions, I really wanted to go beyond just using the “whip pan” made popular through directors like Wes Anderson. I found inspiration in Ian Pons Jewell’s work, and working with our cinematographer, we were able to achieve all transitions practically and in-camera.
